If the Dumfries leaders have their way, the town in just outside Quantico Marine Corps Base will look very different in the coming years.
On Tuesday, the Town Council unanimously approved changes to the town’s comprehensive plan, guiding future development along Main Street.
Today, the thoroughfare that runs past town hall serves as a southbound commuter route carrying Route 1 traffic.
Leaders envision a Dumfries of tomorrow that a series of low-rise buildings along the street will be home to a mix of uses, including retail spaces, offices, and municipal offices along the road, with homes on the floors above.
