Fears quarry will blast off next year hosed down

Premium Content Subscriber only Council has assured it will be business as usual at a hinterland quarry next year as residents fear a surge in operations. A statement released this week by Sunshine Coast Council announcing an $8.5 million contract awarded to Black Cat Civil to support quarry services at Image Flat and Dulong sparked concern for some Dulong residents. The two-year contract to provide mobile crushing and screening services starting early-2021 was set to have Black Cat Civil crushing, scalping, blending and screening about $350,000 tonnes of rhyolite and basalt shot rock a year. Dulong Futures spokeswoman Gillian Hall raised concerns the Dulong Quarry on Sherwell Rd was about to scale up significantly, after reading the release.
