LONG HILL TWP. - Students from Soo Bahk Do Karate of Gillette competed in a first of its kind virtual national martial arts competition on Saturday, Nov. 7.
This competition was part of the 75th anniversary celebration of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan, an international organization with schools on five continents. Some of the students competed live and others sent videos in advance of the event.
The competition was judged by master-level certified instructors across the United States. It was an amazing experienceâ, said Lydia Chu, fifth-degree black belt and Head Instructor at the Gillette school.
John Carlini, 75, of Berkeley Heights, placed first in the Super Senior Division.
