Three-quarters of city workers are reluctant to go back to their workplace full-time, new research has found, as CBD businesses begin the slow process of bringing workers back to the office after prolonged coronavirus restrictions.
Thousands of employees will on Monday file into city offices for the first time since work-from-home orders began in March last year. Fifty per cent of private sector workers and 25 per cent of public servants will be allowed in offices at a time.

The state government continues to stand firm on its policy of preventing Victorians in COVID red zones of Sydney and Brisbane from returning home, despite growing criticism of its decision to welcome 1240 international arrivals from around the world for the Australian Open.
Criticism from the state opposition, stranded families and the head of the nation s largest airline came as a leading infectious diseases expert said Australia s public health effort could do without the Open, predicting a 2 per cent COVID-positive rate among the 1240 people due to arrive in Melbourne for the event.
“Any restrictions on the travel of Victorians have to be proportionate with human rights, including freedom of movement, and the government needs to explain why home quarantine is not an option for Victorians in the red zone who wish to return home,” Ms Kretzenbacher said.
Victoria s Chief Health Officer, Brett Sutton, said on Monday that there was no “rigid criteria” of what would trigger a region from changing to a red zone and the border closing, although 14 days without community transmission in red zones was among the factors that would be considered.
Professor Sutton said mystery cases, exposure sites and case numbers would also feed into the decision-making: All of those elements . are reviewed continuously.”
