When a thief moved in to steal an expensive Scott carbon fibre racing bike from Gary Cardiff, a human resources executive and mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, it didn’t end well for him.
Cardiff (37) was cycling from his home in Dublin’s Inchicore out to Howth Head one day when he realised en route he had forgotten his pump and so he ventured into an East Wall supermarket to buy one.

Sandymount residents are unhappy with the plans to reduce traffic on Strand Road to one way from March 1st. This is to facilitate the opening of a much disputed new two-way cycle route from the end of that month. For more on this plan we heard from Spokesperson for Dublin Cycling Campaign, Kieran Ryan and Independent Councillor Mannix Flynn.

There s been massive opposition in Sandymount to plans for a new cycle track in the Dublin suburb, one local councillor says.
However, cycling campaigners say there s also a lot of local support for the project, and there s been extensive consultation over the plans.
Car restrictions - including traffic barriers, reduced parking, and a one-way system -
are being implemented as part of the measures for the new two-way Strand Road cycle path.
Plans for the project are now proceeding, and a six-month trial will get underway over the coming weeks.
