A former janitor for the Greenfield School District is suing the district, saying administrators violated his rights when he was fired after he developed a serious health condition that prevented him from doing his job while on medical leave to get checked for COVID-19.
Duane Kaufmann is accusing the district of interfering with his rights under the Family Medical Leave Act and retaliating against him for trying to exercise those rights by terminating his employment.
Alan Olson, Kelsey Kerr and Nicholas Yurk on April 15 filed the complaint on behalf of Kaufmann in the U.S. Eastern District Court of Wisconsin.
