The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders from District Malir have held the party’s provincial leadership, particularly Sindh Assembly opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh, responsible for the loss in Tuesday’s PS-88 by-poll, and demanded of party supremo Prime Minister Imran Khan, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and other central leaders to probe the factors behind the humiliating defeat.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the PTI’s recently resigned president, Qadir Bakhsh Kalmati, senior leaders Inayat Khattak and Tariq Baloch, and other office-bearers accused Sheikh of intentionally fielding a weak candidate in PS-88 to ensure the victory of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate.

KARACHI: Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) was booked by the Karachi police in a case pertaining to attempted murder and hindering an anti-encroachment drive.
The provincial and district administration had demolished farmhouses, belonging to Mr Sheikh and his family, on the outskirts of the city a day earlier.
The Memon Goth police registered an FIR against Mr Sheikh and his 70 unknown companions for disturbing peace, causing financial loss to government property, assault on government employees, attempted murder, intimidation and interference in official work.

Terming the demolition of the farmhouse of the brother of Sindh Assembly opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh and registration of cases against him as political revenge of the Sindh government and violation of the court stay orders, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh leaders on Sunday demanded a judicial commission to conduct investigations into land issues.
Sheikh, who is also the PTI central vice-president, addressed a press conference, in which he said his hands were clean and leaders of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party were the biggest land grabbers in Sindh.
