A compelling fusion of relatable family drama and topical conservation issues is the potent mix producers are aiming for in the new 52-part South African drama series, Summertide, which starts on M-Net tomorrow. The series, which features former East Londoner Frank Rautenbach in the lead, as well as a star-studded cast including Terry Norton, Andre Jacobs, Tyrone Keogh and Monique Rockman, has been shooting in Simon’s Town, Kommetjie and Kalk Bay since 2023.
Model and social media influencer Avril Albetti took part in new reality television show Die Brug so she could create more opportunities for young girls from her small Eastern Cape hometown. Two episodes into the kykNET show, Albetti, 38, who grew up near Kariega in the small town of Loerie, has already caused waves and has set herself up as the show’s unapologetically cut-throat player.
