At a special called meeting May 31, the DeKalb Board of Education voted unanimously to restore Druid Hills High School to the district’s five-year facilities plan, just ahead of a June 1 deadline required by the Georgia Department of Education.
The Georgia Department of Education has hired Dr. Tanzy Kilcrease as a Special Appointed Advisor to help the DeKalb County School District address the issues outlined in the corrective action plan that GA DOE presented to the district May 12.
During her evaluation by the DeKalb School Board in September 2021, former superintendent Cheryl Watson-Harris heard that board members were overwhelmingly unsatisfied with the condition of the district's facilities.
