Police have seized £3,000 worth of crack cocaine and £5,000 in cash following a number of raids on homes in Fife. Officers targeted homes in two Fife towns as part of a week-long operation aimed at ‘county lines’ drug dealers. County Lines refers to criminals from larger cities who expand their operations into smaller towns. They often also to take over a vulnerable person’s house, known as ‘cuckooing’ Two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested and charged and appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court  last week.

Drugs and cash seized in county lines crackdown Police in Scotland seized thousands of pounds worth of drugs and cash in a week-long crackdown on county lines gangs who exploit vulnerable people and children.  The operation discovered 64 addresses believed to be used for the purposes of cuckooing - where a vulnerable person s house is taken over by drug dealers.  A total of 29 vulnerable people were also identified during the national intensification week, co-ordinated by the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) last week.  Police Scotland’s Assistant Chief Constable Pat Campbell said the gangs bring violence to our communities. She said: County Lines gangs are not welcome in Scotland.

Officers raided properties in Methil and Kennoway during a week of action on so-called county lines, recovering crack cocaine worth an estimated £3,000, more than £5,000 in cash and a taser. Two men from Birmingham were charged and appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court last Thursday. Kieran Carolan, 22, and Daniel Church, 20, are charged with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act and the Firearms Act. Neither man made any plea, with Carolan expected to appear again today, while Church has been released on bail.
