SAN FRANCISCO - Bay Area and world-renowned architect Art Gensler, whose firm designed the Chase Center and the Moscone Convention Center West, among other landmarks in San Francisco, died Monday, his firm announced.
He was 85. Gensler died peacefully at his home in Mill Valley. I like doing things that people use, Gensler said in a video in memory of his life and the firm Gensler, which survives him.

Bay Area Architect Art Gensler died at the age of 85 at his home in Mill Valley. He was known for turning his San Francisco practice into the largest architecture firm in the world.
His firm, Gensler, was behind the designs of Chase Center, Moscone Convention Center West, and other landmarks in the city.
According to CBS San Francisco, in his video in memory of his life and the firm, Gensler mentioned that he likes to do things people use.
For Gensler, design a big picture attitude. He said he is particularly interested in how design is going to interact with one s surroundings and with the people who are going to use it.

Art Gensler, who propelled a small namesake practice into one of the largest and most prolific firms in the history of the design industry, died at his home in Mill Valley, California on May 10th, 2020 18 months after being diagnosed with lung disease. He was 85.
