Gates get a revamp First, the council want to restore the park’s metal gates. First in line for renovation are the gate, walls and pillars at the Durham Street entrance. The metalwork would be removed, sandblasted then restored by the council’s own officers. The walls at the Durham Street entrance, which was built in around 1953, would be rebuilt. Other gates, including the best preserved examples at the Groundwell Street entrance, would be restored.
The Durham Street gates to Queen’s Park Coun Pajak said: “All the gates are unique. None of them replicate each other and this one [Durham Street] has got some nice design features on it.”
