the president of spacex, founded by elon musk, says it is not going to prevent ukrainian soldiers from fully use that starlink satellit e service, as talking to an adviser to zelenskyy the other day, this has been the key of the war to them. they have relied on this. what do you say to elon musk right now? i think it s despicable, aaron. this is the scene then time that mr. musk esper and the restriction or the constraints on the use of the starlink, and it is critical for ukraine combat opportunities, not only for guided ammunition from artillery pieces and himars but also the guiding of their drone capability. ukraine citizens are getting crushed by russian artillery and russian missiles, and they have to fire back. to
perspective, they have the capability using satellites and they do, as a matter of fact, gather intelligence through some pretty sophisticated satellites that move over our country. in addition to that, they, obviously, have drone capability as well. so the question then becomes, why a balloon? and, you know, it s tough to answer that question. is it a sophisticated camera of some sort that is able to pick up more sensitive information? we don t know the answer to that. and so i think we have to take a strong position here that it has invaded our air space, that it s a surveillance an intelligence surveillance balloon, and that the chinese can maneuver this balloon, which means that we cannot allow it to get back in chinese hands. and so then let s pull out then to the bigger picture.
these drones. joining us is national security coordinator for strategic communications at the white house, john kirby. thanks for being with us this morning. happy to be here. when we are looking about this news about the drones. how will that change russia s capability right now in ukraine? drone capability can help you with your surveillance and reconnaissance, obviously, drones have the offensive capability. they can deliver munitions, they can sometimes be munitions. i think it was important to make it clear to the world, that we know that russia k, needs these additional capabilities, they are expanding their resources at an accelerated rate and b, that there leaning toward a nation like iran, a nation that hasn t condemned their invasion, hasn t tried to put pressure on mr. putin s warmaking machine.
the arsenal coming to this armed drone capability is not quite what it was but important for the u.s. government to weigh the risk whether or not these drones who get shot down and captured and exploited by russia. that is a major risk. but in the end, this is good to. carley: the war will end at the negotiating table. the reason we are providing so much support is because we want ukraine to be in a position of strength when they do get to the peace talks. at this point, what terms would be acceptable to putin? well, as i said so many times on your program, putin will try to win this or at any cost. it is unclear what terms they will accept but at the same time many soldiers are dying every single day. 10/1 ukrainian forces. anything putin will do in the end will be advantageous even
