NO MORE HORSE RIDES FOR DROCA COMMUNITY MEMBERS

School students residing within Droca Settlement in Labasa will now not have to worry about riding on horsebacks to access bus services during adverse weather conditions.
The project involved the upgrading of the 1km road to provide a safe and good condition for members of the public. The project was funded by Government under the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management’s Community Access Roads, Footpaths and Footbridges (CARFF) Programme at a cost of $49,632.
Droca Settlement resident Mr Mohammed Kaiyum said the assistance rendered by the Ministry towards the upgrade of the settlement’s road was like a “dream come true”.

MINISTRY CONGRATULATES MORE THAN 700 YOUTH IN NORTH

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has assisted a total of 771 youth with its Youth Farm Initiative Programme in the Northern Division last week.
Line Minister Hon.Parveen Kumar Bala said “The Ministry is committed to provide focused and sustainable programs aimed at nurturing young people in agriculture.
“We are particularly promoting organic agriculture as our contribution to ensuring sustainability in the face of the significant impact of climate change we face in Fiji and more recently-the global pandemic.”
He said the government wants a bright future for all Fijians hence the constant emphasis placed by the Ministry on the importance of sustainable living.
