What's Driving You Crazy this week? Nick from Denver asks about signs for the Hampden Avenue exit on I-25, where one sign says the exit is in 3/4 of a mile and the following sign, at least a quarter mile away, says the exit is in 1 mile. Jayson Luber explains.

What s Driving You Crazy? Roundabouts at Pecos/48th/I-70

I received two separate, but similar letters about the roundabout on Pecos Street at I-70.
Cathy from Denver writes, âWhat s driving you crazy? The roundabout at Pecos/48th/I-70 is dangerous! The cars getting on near 48th do not yield, which makes it very difficult for cars coming off I-70 to get in the roundabout. I see a traffic light there in the future.â
Jeremy from Denver writes, âWhat s driving you crazy? The roundabouts at I70 & Pecos. Every single time I drive west on W. 48th Avenue, people in the left lane for I-70 east will suddenly cut over to the right from inside the roundabout for the I-70 west ramp instead. People always seem to get confused at this roundabout since some parts are one lane and other parts of it are three lanes.â

Tom from Denver writes,
âJayson, whatâs driving me crazy is the closure of eastbound 14th Avenue at Colorado Boulevard. It seems like itâs been closed for six months! This is a major west to east thoroughfare and having it closed this long is getting on my nerves. How much longer is it expected to be closed?â
14th Avenue has been closed all this time, Tom, to accommodate Denverâs Jackson Street storm drain project. The city says the new drainage system, âwill provide a critical link between the lower and upper Montclair Basin system for managing stormwater and offer improved flood protection for residents and businesses in the project area between Colfax and 12th Avenues, from Jackson to Albion Streets.

Sandi from Highlands Ranch writes,
âWhat s driving you crazy? There are some excellent bike trails in the Highlands Ranch/Douglas County area. I can bike continuously from my home to the C-470 trail, to Mary Carter Greenway, up to Lee Gulch, and then back home on the Highline Canal Trail a total of 18 miles. I am so thankful for these trails! However, a lot of cyclists have to cross Santa Fe Drive at the intersection just south of C-470. You have to enter the intersection in order to access the crossing signal. It puts you within inches of vehicles, many of them are commercial trucks, dump trucks, semis, concrete mixers etc. It would be nice to have a bicycle bridge there but that probably isn t going to happen in my lifetime. My request is this: Could they move the crossing signal back to the trail so that I wouldn t be waiting with vehicles literally surrounding me?

Justin from Golden writes,
âWhat s driving you crazy? When roads are snowy, itâs common that cleared-out ruts form from enough car tires driving over. When it becomes apparent that the ruts arenât within the marked lanes on a road â often theyâll exactly split across two lanes â I have to assume that the legal thing for a driver to do is maintain their vehicle within the lane, not within the ruts, even if there might be less traction. Whoâs in the right in that situation? The driver who stays in the proper lane, even if more slippery, or the driver who tries to keep better traction by staying in the ruts, even if it splits the lane?â
