Ashland City Council tackles erosion issue, buys cardboard baler

KEY ACTION Agreed to hire Driven Excavating for work on a sanitary sewer erosion project at Oakhill Circle.
DISCUSSION Council passed an emergency ordinance authorizing Mayor Matt Miller to enter into a $37,601 contract with the excavating company to help slow the erosion at the sanitary sewer line.
Gabion baskets - galvanized steel, woven wire mesh baskets filled with stone - will be used to help combat the erosion, which Miller sees as a temporary bandage on the problem.
It s possible that a future project will be needed at Oakhill in the coming years.
