Walk in Covid vaccination clinics at Station Drive surgery in Ludlow

A GP surgery in Ludlow has started to offer clinics that enable people who have not had a Covid-19 vaccination but have changed their minds to get protected. Everyone over the age of 40 who does not have a medical reason for not having a vaccination should by now have been offered one. However, there will be a small number of people who have slipped through the net. These could be people who were unwell when offered a first vaccination or for whatever reason decided to decline but have now changed their minds. Station Drive Surgery is running first AstraZeneca clinics for anyone aged over 40 who has not yet been vaccinated.

Ludlow GP surgery says for most the benefits of Astra Zeneca jab far outweigh risks

A LUDLOW GP surgery is telling patients that the benefits of having a vaccine against Covid hugely outweigh the risks of not doing so. Station Drive Surgery has responded in a posting on social media following concerns raised about a possible link between the Astra Zeneca jab and blood clots in a very small number of younger patients reported around the world. ‘The benefits of vaccination against Covid-19 still far outweigh the risks for the vast majority of patients and this is particularly apparent the older we get. But in younger age groups, those under 30, where the risks from complications from Covid are far less frequent, the risk of a very rare clotting complication appears to be more finely balanced.

Ludlow surgery mindful of patients who have lost loved ones for whom vaccine came too late

This is an indication of the speed of the roll out. Station Drive Surgery has told its patients that following a clinic at Ludlow Hospital on Sunday, it was in a position to move onto cohort 5, vaccinating patients below 69, from next week. “We aren’t unique in meeting this achievement; and although our team has moved mountains to attain these figures. with all doctors, nurses and reception staff working at the surgery, the Church Stretton vaccination clinics, our clinics at Ludlow hospital, the Ludlow racecourse site alongside shifts across the county for other areas, all the practices across south west Shropshire, Clun, Bishops Castle, Church Stretton, Craven Arms and Ludlow, have achieved this coverage alongside us,’ said a posting from the surgery.
