Emergency services called to car on side following Carisbrooke accident

A CAR ended up on its side and a driver sustained an injury following a single-vehicle road traffic accident near Gatcombe this afternoon (Wednesday). The accident occurred on Whitcombe Road at around 2pm, with tailbacks evident until 3.15pm when the vehicle was recovered by Stag Lane Motors. An eye-witness confirmed police attended the scene. Southern Vectis diverted its Route 6 service as a result of the accident, with buses not able to serve stops between Drill Hall Road and Highwood Lane. Route 6 diverted because of an accident on Whitcombe Road. Buses will not serve stops between Drill Hall Road and Highwood Lane. Apologies for any inconvenience

Burglaries in Newport — police say lock doors and check CCTV

RESIDENTIAL properties in Newport have been burgled and police are urging people to lock their doors at night and report any walk-in burglaries. At least two dwellings were burgled recently on February 19 and 22 when the offender walked into the homes via unlocked doors. Items stolen include a wallet, PlayStation and iPad. Police are asking for information, and also asking residents in nearby roads for any CCTV or doorbell footage that might help. The police said: We are appealing for information on two dwelling burglaries that have happened around Newport town centre.
