donald trump has taken in this campaign and not the approach we re taking. simply put, james, let me get a sense from you. what is the impact of a comment like that and the impact of that kind of a strategy to maybe not suppress but discourage your opponent s supporters? well, i think what s the problem is that term suppression overstates really what the trump campaign is doing here. as far as we know, peter, they are not going door to door in black neighborhoods and telling people that their polling places have closed, for example, or something like that. what is undeniable and our reporting has found inside the trump campaign is that they are undertaking efforts to try to depress hillary clinton s vote. they are doing that by methods that they think will work. i think, you know, the jury is still out on that. for example, like by dredging up bill clinton s infidelities. by trying to link hillary clinton to efforts to shame some
vote early. vote right now. leave here, go vote. and don t let anyone take that right away from you. as kellyanne conway has said consistently, it s basically donald trump against all of these democratic surrogates, the first lady, the president, joe biden, and hillary clinton herself. can he compete with that? i mean is that an overwhelming challenge? reporter: well, look, the one challenge obviously donald trump has, he does not have a unified republican party is having people go out on the stump and speak on his behalf. tomorrow in new hampshire rudy giuliani will be in the state, but there really hasn t been all that many surrogates on his behalf. meanwhile, of course, here hillary clinton has had bill clinton, elizabeth warren earlier in the week and a full parade almost every single day of a high-profile surrogate to help drive out turnout. donald trump really has to make the pitch himself here in this state. this is his eighth visit to the
