Some Calgary hotels hope to fill 80% vacancy rate by converting to affordable housing
The Calgary Hotel Association says with a historically high vacancy rate of 80 per cent, it knows of at least eight hotels considering converting their buildings to affordable housing to bring in some money while addressing a critical need in the city.

Restrictions are for the public benefit, aren’t repression
Although I support the rights of citizens in a democratic society to protest for freedoms and rights and causes they believe in, the public safety restrictions impact all of us, not just those who object to COVID restrictions, which include social distancing and wearing of masks. The anti-maskers, while protesting violate both these “small points.”

These restrictions are to protect us all not to repress the freedom of a segment of some of our fellow citizens. Does this same group buy into smoking bylaws and traffic laws? Would they protest against drunk driving laws? Just wondering!

Franco s No Frills has been charged for violating two COVID-19 rules in the middle of an outbreak that has infected 11 people as of Tuesday.
