Backstage Updates From WWE NXT Releases, Drake Wuertz Contacting Other Promotions (Photo Credit: WWE) As noted, several WWE NXT talents were released earlier today – Jessamyn Duke, Vanessa Borne (Danielle Kamela), Skyler Story (Brandi Lauren Pawalek, Ava Storie), Ezra Judge (Ezekwesiri “EJ” Nduka Jr.), Alexander Wolfe (Axel Tischer), and Kavita Devi (Kavita Dalal). The talents released today were all told that their departures were due to budget cuts. It’s still being rumored that more cuts will be made, but nothing has been confirmed as of this writing. PWInsider adds that the initial plan was for cuts to come around three weeks ago, shortly after the main roster cuts on April 15, but the decision was made to hold off until today. Sapp also reported of several other incidents involving Wuertz leading up to his termination on Fightful Select (subscription needed), which including Wuertz having nuclear heat with other WWE NXT employees regarding his conspiracy theories against masks and the COVID-19 vaccine. Wuertz, who was demoted from his senior official position earlier this year, also reportedly attempted to make several power plays to angle himself for a better position within the company, which Sapp said included trying to get heat on other individuals to improve his chances. Multiple reports also indicated wrestlers of color complained to management about incidents related to the way things were worded by Wuertz multiple times, which included a reported physical incident with Judge, who is Black, prior to both men being released on Wednesday.
