NORFOLK, Va. - Walmart began mass vaccination clinics at two off-site locations this week in Hampton Roads, the state s vaccination coordinator said Friday.
The vaccinations are happening in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, but Dr. Danny Avula did not provide the exact locations.
The clinics are by appointment only and are prioritizing people 65 and older. Each site is getting about 1,200 doses from Pfizer to split over three days. People who pre-registered through the state s vaccination database are being called to set up appointments. We could use it all. They re fantastic partners, and obviously are reaching areas where we need additional vaccination capacity, Avula said in a call with reporters.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Virginians looking to register for a COVID-19 vaccine may have to wait until next week as the state creates a centralized system.
Starting Friday evening, all local health districts will close their pre-registration forms at the direction of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).
“What you’re doing when you pre-register is you’re getting in line for an upcoming event,” said Dr. Danny Avula, the State Vaccine Coordinator.
After CVS announced it will begin administering coronavirus vaccines to Virginians ages 65 and older on Friday, February 12, many people were left wondering why they don’t qualify for these vaccinations even though they’re at high risk.
The rush to get a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at a CVS Pharmacy in Virginia began early Tuesday, Feb. 9, and according to some, slots filled up very quickly.
