Brett Pitman and Freddie Sears netted a goal in either half for the Blues as Town began their pre-season friendly programme with a 2-1 victory over Dublin side Shelbourne at Tolka Park. Pitman smashed home a 25-yard screamer in the 28th minute, Sears added the second on 62 before Dylan Grimes pulled one back for the home side from the penalty spot with 13 minutes remaining.
Town Exit Youth Cup to Liverpool

Town’s U18s exited the FA Youth Cup at the third round stage after losing 2-1 to Liverpool in a closely fought game at St Helens’ Langtree Park this evening, Sam Ford (pictured) netting the Blues’ goal.
Adam Phillips put the home side in front in the third minute but Ford hit back almost immediately, netting a rebound from Ben Morris’s saved shot.
After Andre Dozzell, playing his first game after an ankle injury, had hit the bar, Toni Gomes hit what ultimately would prove to be the winner for the Reds on 26. The goals can be watched here.
