Want to walk around in public with a drink in your hand? N C House bill would create social districts for alcohol consumption

A new study by OnePoll on behalf of Jack Daniel’s revealed that three in 10 Americans have ended a date early because of what their date ordered to drink. Downtown projects move forward in Winston-Salem as developers look past the COVID-19 pandemic

March 20 was a day that Simon Burgess will remember: It was the first night since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic here that all the rooms in the Hotel Indigo downtown were booked. “The restaurant has been doing really well,” he added. “It is still tough, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.” Burgess is managing director of Mayfair Street Partners, which renovated the old Pepper Building as the Hotel Indigo in 2018 and had big hotel plans for nearby Merschel Park. Our view: Good news

In 2021, spring begins on the vernal equinox, Saturday, March 20. Let’s not wait. This weekend is a perfectly good weekend to celebrate springtime (marred by the loss of an hour on Sunday, but let’s not talk about that yet), with temperatures expected to be moderate and the sun lingering an extra minute every evening. In addition, a variety of good things have been happening in our communities. Let’s make the most of it. First of all, The Streatery is returning to downtown Winston-Salem. From 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Fourth Street will be closed to all but pedestrian traffic from Spruce to Liberty streets so that hungry people can sit outside in pleasant weather and get their feed on together.
