In South Orange Village (New Jersey), former Notre Dame (and Cleveland Browns) wide receiver Braynard “Bobby” Brown won an open seat in their municipal election on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021.
As reported in the New Jersey Globe, Brown was the top vote-getter of the election with 1,029 votes, followed by reelected trustee Karen Hilton (1,008) and environmental activist William Haskins (991).
Brown, who ran in 2019 and lost by 351 votes, is an attorney and former NFL player. He played college football at the University of Notre Dame and appeared in six games for the Cleveland Browns in 2000. After his football career ended, he returned to Notre Dame for his law degree and later received an MBA from Yale. He chairs the South Orange Community Police Collaborative and is committed to public safety and greater social equity.
