Blumenauer seeks fed funds to stop carnage on 181st Avenue
Rep. Earl Blumenauer wears his love for cycling on his sleeve well, his coat.
The Democratic congressman who grew up in Portland is well known for displaying a fluorescent bike pin on his jacket lapel. Blumenauer has described himself as aggressively bike partisan, and helped form the congressional bike caucus upon arriving in Washington D.C. in 1996 when he was first elected.
So it was no surprise the elected official was prominently displaying a bright orange bicycle pin as he toured a dangerous Gresham corridor in desperate need of safety improvements.
