is only beginning. sandra: for those of us who have lived through hurricanes we know how scary they can be. chief meteorologist is with us tracking the storm and the latest tally on some of the winds that are being reported across that state. what are we seeing, rick? so far, john, i m glad we had the video that popped up from 2017 up in jacksonville, because jacksonville is going to get storm surge again from this storm, which is pretty hard to imagine. this is a look at the winds recorded so far, verified naples, 112 miles an hour, still with kinds of the worst of the wind offshore, it has not made its way there just yet. so we have a long road ahead. all right, every hour now we are getting an update here, so this is the 2:00 p.m. update. no changes in the last three hours, pressure still at 937 millibars, moving north/northeast at nine miles an hour. we are looking at that every hour. often times when you have a storm making landfall it starts to weaken a bit, interac

the homeowner s policy will cover somebody things but the flood policy covers probably the most significant risk for most homeowners in florida given the risk of flooding we have in our state. we are sensitive to that obviously going to be some folks that are in need of support and relief we will work as best we can i will say people have been asking about some of the overall homeowner s insurance with like citizens. citizens, i think right now they are between 6 and 700 billion of surplus. modeling in terms of paying out a lot of money in claims still have 4 and 5 billion in surplus. they view themselves as being able to weather this. individual carriers they have to go through a stress test to have policies approved. this year they had tested under a direct impact on tampa bay and what would happen they have policy and reinsurance and wrap program and cap fund. citizens feel strongly they will be able to handle this and still have pretty significant reserves. okay. thanks s
ian is rising in florida. 88 people lost their lives to this storm. 54 of them alone were in lee county which includes fort myers, as you re seeing on your screen here and fort myers beach. that town is decimated by the monster category 4 storm. officials there now facing questions over the timing of the mandatory evacuation orders, were they given early enough. search and rescue teams still going door to door looking for survivors especially on the barrier islands of sanibel, captiva. and pine. ian s strong winds destroyed homes and businesses leaving behind despair. can we get some help down here? you know, would that be too much to asky i mean, you luke around here, there s nothing. we have no power, no phone service, nothing. we d just like a little help. i d like a little help to get my home back in shape because i ve got nowhere to go. florida governor ron desantis said there s been more than 1600 rescues. some floridians providing their own boats for help. the ligh
