Two large housing proposals in south Fort Collins could bring more than 370 single-family homes, condos and apartments to South Timberline Road just west of Bacon Elementary School.
The two projects are planned north of Rosen Drive and both have submitted preliminary designs to the city for review. Here s a look at the two projects.
Hansen Farm
Nearly 200 apartment units are planned for two tracts of the Hansen Farm in south Fort Collins.
Representatives from Hartford Homes are expected to meet with city planners May 5 to outline its plan for 196 for-sale condominiums across 11 buildings. The plan shows a proposed mix of eight-plexes and 20-unit buildings on two tracts of the 69-acre parcel. The eight-plexes will be two stories and the 20-unit buildings will be three stories, according to plans.
A developer is working with owners of the former Downtown Artery building, 252 Linden St., to turn the building s second floor into affordable co-housing.
The plan, proposed by Helix Development Group of Fort Collins, would essentially add nine bedrooms to the existing three bedrooms on the second floor with shared bathrooms, a living room, kitchen and common area, said Josh Harrison, president of Helix Development.
Harrison is awaiting a building permit from the city of Fort Collins before starting construction at the end of April with construction done by August and the units leased for a Sept. 1 move in. According to the permit, renovations will cost about $521,000 including the cost of adding a wheelchair lift to provide accessibility for people with disabilities.
The Fort Collins DIY scene has been breeding new bands at noisy house shows with diverse lineups for years. For some groups, this is a necessary step in their rise to popularity. For others, like the bandmates in the Crooked Rugs, it shapes who they are, and they have no plans to fully leave it behind.
Even before flagship venues like the Downtown Artery closed, house shows were the best venues in Fort Collins for musicians in their early twenties to network and grow. The Crooked Rugs have been playing these spots almost exclusively since Jayce Haley and drummer Noah Brumbach first formed the band in 2016. The group s now a five-piece, having fleshed out its lineup in 2019 with keyboardist Jay LeCavelier, guitarist Rex Stowers and bassist Finn Stowers.
