Ameren s request to raise rates is unacceptable

Late on a Friday afternoon a couple weeks ago, when few people were paying attention, Ameren Illinois announced they would be asking the Illinois Commerce Commission to approve a rate increase and add nearly $3 a month to residential customer delivery. In other words, our electric bills are going up. Again.
Working families and small businesses have been struggling for the past year, but big corporations like Ameren have been doing just fine. Ameren raked in more than $170 million from Downstate Illinois customers in rate hikes over the last decade. And in 2019 alone, Ameren CEO Warner L. Baxter made $9.7 million, 66 times its median employee’s pay.
