deficit, did not create any jobs and that they should be repealed. all right. house speaker nancy pelosi echoing treasury secretary tim geithner wanting to let some of the bush tax cuts expire. both say they contributed to the deficit and did nothing to create jobs. former colorado governor richard lamb may be the first democrat in nearly 40 years ago when began sounding the alarm on america s structural deficits and he joins me now from colorado. governor, thanks for coming on. so you look at what s going on today in this debate about the deficit and we have the presidential commission and you were screaming about this issue in the 70s. do you have any faith that politicians here in washington get it now if they didn t get it when you were talking about it in the 70s? i wish i could be more optimistic but i think democracies have a hard time in down sizing. you know, they re sort of
little frustrated with the fact nothing is getting done in congress, nothing is being getg done in congress and frustrated with the fact they say the federal government isn t working for them. that is something you hear from the more conservative tea party actists. they may share some of the grievances, they goals are different. the tea party calls for a down sizing of the federal government, people here want to fix the government and reform it and make it work for americans. so annabel park came up with the idea for the coffee party. there she is. she joins us from washington to talk about it. thank you so much. listen, what prompted this movement? better question still is was this movement prompts as sort of the, i don t know, to counter the tea party movement? right. i wouldn t say it is to counter it. i think we all many of us felt at the same time a desire
