“My Best Day In” – a Dalesman reader’s lockdown diary – December edition This further month of lockdown somehow does not seem as interminable as the last lockdown but the sound of The Dalesman dropping through our letterbox raised my spirits. My first thought was to how it was possible to produce a Christmas edition so far in advance? I decided to start at the end and read David Norris’s ‘Best Day in’ and as it turned out a very good place to begin. I was unsure when this was written but I very much enjoyed the description of the Bradford Potholing Club’s visit to a Christmas Grotto in Ingleborough Cave. I could well imagine the coldness of the cave but warmed with twinkling bulbs and a feeling of bonhomie! With the news of a Covid vaccine then I must hope for a return of this seasonal goodwill next year.
