DOVER The City Council voted Wednesday night to approve the purchase of a Voyage Mark II Scale Solar System to be installed along the city s Community Trail.
On an evening centered around passionate comments about the school budget and possible cuts to educator jobs and raises, the discussion to use school impact fees to purchase the $60,000 installation also became a hotly discussed topic.
The installation will allow visitors of the trail to walk past signs engraved with information on a scaled model of the solar system, starting at the sun and ending at Pluto, as part of the Voyage National Program. It will be located near the new trailhead that is currently being constructed at the intersection of Rutland Street and Central Avenue.

Meaghan Gagnon and dozens of other Seacoast residents have been rotating between the streets and the emergency shelter operation at the Garrison Hotel for months now, hoping they can eventually climb out of their stressful hokey pokey and into stability.
“It’s like the weeks take forever,” said Gagnon, 39, of Dover. “But, you also (try to convince) yourself it hasn’t been that long. You don’t want to feel you’ve been out here that long because then you feel like it’s going to be permanent, like it’s going to be forever.”

3-year-old reunited with Slippers the stuffed cat lost on Dover trail
DOVER After 39 long and difficult days, Slippers the stuffed cat has been found and reunited with her elated best friend Jaymison Dube.
Sara Flowers, Jaymison s mother, said she found Slippers in a tree in downtown Dover Wednesday morning more than a month after her 3-year-old son lost the stuffed gray cat along the Washington Street section of the Dover Community Trail on Nov. 14.
“He is very happy and not letting the kitty out of his sights,” said Flowers. “He won’t even let anyone touch her. He keeps saying, ‘She was hiding a tree!’ She’s the best hide-and-seeker ever.”
