By about midday on Monday crews had reopened the route connecting Lewis Pass, SH7 at Springs Junction to SH65 through the Shenandoah and onto SH6 into Nelson. The Lower Buller Gorge route into Westport also re-opened on Monday. But while roads were reopeing, Waka Kotahi warned motorists journeys might be slower than usual, as crews continued to work repairing damage, Forrester said.
