Escondido voters may decide term limits for council and mayor

CARLSBAD The Carlsbad City Council met Tuesday to approve its election results and swear in new Councilmember Teresa Acosta and re-elected member Keith Blackburn. The council heard reports on actions and expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. An urgency ordinance regarding hotel employee recall rights was approved 4-1. The ordinance takes place immediately and requires hotels with 200 or more guest rooms to bring back workers who were furloughed or laid off because of the COVID-19 pandemic, rather than hiring replacements for lower wages.
