Another candidate for Knox County Sheriff has announced his candidacy. Late last month, Community Service Officer and Auxiliary Deputy Zac Cox of Galesburg announced his intention to run for Knox County Sheriff. Cox joins a list of candidates that includes Knox County Detective and Republican Jack Harlan, former Sheriff's Deputy and Democrat Douglas Sampson, and Williamsfiled Police Chief and Democrat James Robertson. A 2004 GHS graduate, Cox graduated from Western Illinois University in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. He went on to complete his police officer certification at the Illinois Police Training Institute in Champaign in 2008. In his announcement, Cox said, "As a law enforcement professional since 2008, I am here to lead the Sheriff's Office into the future while honoring the principles of liberty and justice."
