Large crowds packed into The Banks to celebrate Opening Day on Thursday. For the most part, COVID-19 safety measures were ignored as people stood shoulder to shoulder without wearing masks.
Reds fans braved the cold temperatures and gathered at East Freedom Way, filling the roadways from Marian Spencer Way to Joe Nuxhall Way.
Surrounding bars and restaurants saw long lines that stretched the entire width of the street.
Ahead of Opening Day, officials outlined guidelines for visitors to ensure COVID-19 safety precautions were being followed including having social-distancing signage around The Banks.
White circles were drawn on the Sing Cincinnati lawn area and elsewhere to indicate the need for social distancing but the crowds on Thursday largely ignored those markers.
