PERE MARQUETE TWP. — A forensic audit of Pere Marquette Charter Township’s finances over the past few years revealed no signs of misconduct, according to auditors with Plante Moran.
Recent actions by school boards in Northeast Michigan:
∫ Thomas Catalano and Shannon McKinstry were formally seated on the Rogers City Area Schools Board of Education last week after taking the oath of office. McKinstry was elected in November and will serve a six-year term. Catalano was appointed in December to fill a vacancy and will serve through November 2022.
The board also selected Karen Spens as secretary during its organizational meeting. Greg Zurakowski remains board president, Diane Schultz remains vice president, and Ivy Cook remains treasurer.
The board also met behind closed doors for an employee disciplinary matter. The closed session was requested by the employee, which is allowed under state law. After emerging from the closed session, the board affirmed Superintendent Nick Hein’s response to the matter.
