Several authors from Athens or with local ties have released books this year, including a former attorney in Athens who today spends most of his time on a yacht sailing the warm seas of the Caribbean. Howard T. Scott, who dove into criminal defense work while practicing in his hometown of Athens, has written the murder-suspense novel “Rascal on the Run.” “It’s a work of over eight years in the making,” Scott said in a recent telephone call from his big boat somewhere in the ocean. “I’m already getting some incredible reviews. I ve been super pleased.” The novel spans 1963 to 1988, and while it is fiction the story is fed by actual occurrences in Athens that some might recognize, especially if they are familiar with Scott and his father, the late attorney Guy Scott.
