In June, Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke announced council has voted to retain the RCMP in Surrey and not continue with the transition to the Surrey Police Service (SPS)
The B.C. government commissioned an independent financial analysis that concluded the Surrey Police Service would cost approximately $30 million more per year than the RCMP.
Mike Farnworth did not respond to Locke’s comments but released a statement saying the B.C. government has received Surrey’s report on policing and it is now being reviewed.
