While weather-related disasters are impossible to prevent, there are plans in place to prepare, respond and recover.
This year brought an unexpected and unpreventable new crisis COVID-19.
Thanks to quick action and using proven resources, the team under Director Doug Bryson and Assistant Director Robbie Swofford met the challenge. This was a herculean lift that was accomplished by them, Deputy County Administrator Earl Alexander said. Their works should not go unnoticed.
The department was recognized at a recent county council meeting.
Above the call of duty
Alexander said Bryson, Swofford and 14 volunteers have put in more than 1,000 hours of time beyond their normal workload.
