Lower Ark Valley basin tour announced
Registration is now open for the June 3 annual tour of the Lower Arkansas River Basin tour, hosted by Water Education Colorado. This year’s tour will be held via Zoom, expanding the accessibility among water professionals, ag producers, educators, elected officials and interested community members who regularly attend. The tour will take in sites between Pueblo Reservoir and John Martin Reservoir, giving participants an up-close look at regional water-related activities. The itinerary will showcase water quality projects, agricultural operations, alternative transfer methods (ATMs), interstate compact considerations, the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project, municipal, environmental and recreational priorities, and more. U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert wonât compromise with people who donât share her values or opinions, the freshman congresswoman said Friday at Club 20âs spring conference.
That in response to a question from San Miguel County Commissioner Kris Holstrom, who said that as a Western Slope Democrat sheâs learned to reach compromises with people on both sides of the political aisle in her county on a variety of issues, and asked Boebert if she was willing to do the same with voters in her own politically divided district.
âMy concern is, Iâm not feeling that thereâs very much room for compromise in what Iâm hearing from you,â Holstrom said. âYou have a varied district as well, and several voters in your district did not vote for you. Club 20 has tried very, very hard in the last few years to listen to the different voices on the Western Slope, so I would be really appreciative of a little more compromise on your behalf.â
