Ah, the memories.
Doris Smith s eyes moistened as she looked at the shiny vintage cars parked in the William Penn Bank off Old Route 13 in Bristol Borough on Tuesday evening. A couple hundred people surrounded her, and a news helicopter flew overhead, but despite all that, Smith was back in her Pennsbury High School days in the 1960s, when the Bristol Stomp was all the rage. This is so neat. I remember some of the old cars. I got tears, remembering, she said.
Bristol celebrated its newest mural Tuesday evening, dedicating it to the thumping dance that started in its Goodwill Co. Firehouse a dance the would put the small town on the musical map when the Doo Wop group, The Dovells, named their hit song, The Bristol Stomp.
When was the last time you held a gun? What is your take on what happened in Dayton and El Paso?
Last week for practice. Iâve been a gun owner since I could own one. Iâm not associated with the NRA. I donât wish what happened over the weekend on anybody. I wish it would never happen, but I think itâs a mental issue that is the problem not the gun itself. A number of different things could be done, getting those with mental health issues more help, stepping in a little bit sooner, a little bit tighter regulations on guns, but I donât believe the Second Amendment can be taken away.
