Williams, chair of the Lincoln Forum, and welcome to this panel of forum 22, relating to lincolns enemies. And im so pleased to have it distinguished, every time someone says distinguished i want to run to the merlot bar. Its like saying with all due respect in my courtroom. But we do have some great scholars with us this morning. Stephen engle, the author of a great book about lincoln, and the nations governors. Jonathan white, author of midnight in america, and soon to be with us, the book our little monitor. And of course catherine clinton, no stranger to us, author of mrs. Lincoln, a life, and many other books. And walter stolzier, as well as lincolns secretary of war Edwin Stanton, called stanton, and he told me and i hope im not revealing any confidence, he has a glint in his eye for sammen chase. Good luck with that. Because im sure we will hear about secretary of the treasury sammen chase from professor clinton. So let me start with this. John barre, who is one of our Lincoln F
She doesnt report as much as she used to because now shes doing a lot more freelance writing since shes written this bestselling book about a battle by one man leading an effort to fight against chinese imports into the United States that decimated the Furniture Industry in virginia and north carolina. It is a very wellwritten book. Shes a great storyteller, and while it sounds like a heavy subject, its not. I would definitely recommend it for summertime reading even on the beach. She tells this story in a very human way so people understand the impact of it, but shes also very fair in terms of dealing with the different perspectives and viewpoints about imports and their positive and negative effects on u. S. Economy and american consumers. So i think its a great, great book, and i encourage people to read it. Ive always realize a trilogy of books about american president s, and if some of our viewers are history lovers like i am, i commend these three books which cover most of our pr
Populous states are member of the compact and your biggest states are not. Right. And if you look at the folks who the states that have decided to be part of the physician licensure compact, states like i think its West Virginia and one of the dakotas, idaho. California is not going to do it any time soon. Texas is not going to do it any time soon for all kinds of reasons. Compacts solve part of the reason, but again, theyre only as good as how many states are part of the compact. Right. I think if this were an easy problem to solve, simon wouldnt be spending his time on it there is the question of how easy it is to get it done, and then the question of whether it would work if you could get it done. Its not that easy to get rid of state medical boards either. But while youre in the system of state medical boards, the knack there are some efforts moving forward, it could be that that is the most likely, even though theyre all somewhat less likely way to overcome the professional proble

Stuart, thank you very, very much. Were on top of same things that stuart and ashley and lizzie were on again. All eyes what well get going on tax reform here or tax cuts. As stuart indicated one of the things happen, phenomenon building, sense of diminished expectations. That might not be justified. Whatever is going on is taking a lot of momentum for big tax cuts away. Gets further pushed back, offer something on corporate front as Charlie Gasparino reported would be welcome news on corner of wall and broad. Well ski. House ways and Means Committee member, crucial voice in this battle, republican congressman mike kelly. Always good to have you you. Am i right to interpret things that way . Diminished expectations maybe big tax cuts, sweeping reform is pushed back, if at all maybe Corporate Tax cuts in the of
