A motorist has been jailed after he knocked down and killed a carer and left her disabled friend fighting to walk again for the second time in her life.
Lyndsey Green, 30, was knocked down when driver Jason Lawlor lost concentration and hit speeds of 50mph as he drove along a 30mph stretch of West Derby Road, Liverpool.
Nicola Worrall, then 22, who was born with a disability, was left with devastating injuries after she and Ms Green had tried to get to a taxi at 10.45pm on March 17 2018.
Lawlor, of Doric Road, Stoneycroft, claimed the pair had run across the road in his first police interview but changed his story after CCTV footage proved they had walked at a normal pace to cross the road by its junction with Boundary Lane.
