Some Mass Effect Andromeda Aliens Were Scrapped Due to Budget

One of the criticisms of Mass Effect Andromeda was the lack of alien species, which has long perplexed players and critics. Turns out, that wasn’t supposed to be the case. The Gamer’s Cian Maher spoke to a number of former BioWare developers, who revealed that they had designs for up to ten new alien species, but they were cut because of budget, scope, and bizarrely, cosplay. BioWare apparently picked the two species that were considered to be cosplay-friendly. “Because the scope of Mass Effect was so incredibly massive, there was an inherent promise that you’d be getting a massive new experience with a ton of new things in

Mass Effect 2 Developers Praises the Game s Lack of Crunch

The Game Had the Least Amount of Crunch in the Trilogy The problem of crunch time is well known in the gaming industry and unfortunately, extremely prevalent with recent titles like Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us II, and Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 severally struggling with the issue. Thankfully, this isn’t always the case as games like Mass Effect 2 are sometimes able to find the perfect work-life balance. In a recent interview with The Gamer, Mass Effect 2 development staff spoke on the matter, acknowledging that there were some crunch problems with Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 3, but not with Mass Effect 2.

Bioware Devs Talk About A Cancelled Han Solo-Inspired Mass Effect Game

Bioware Devs Talk About A Cancelled Han Solo-Inspired Mass Effect Game The game would have explored parts of the Mass Effect universe Shepard was never privy to. Even with four games and numerous DLC under its belt, Bioware s Mass Effect series has mostly stuck to telling its story from the same kind of perspective. A new report from The Gamer reveals that Bioware once considered a spin-off game with a smuggler-type character, though it was later canned to focus efforts on Mass Effect 2. Here s all we know about the ill-fated game. The concept was revealed by former Bioware development director Dorian Kieken in an interview. We explored a game concept back in 2008, a bit after the shipping of [the first] Mass Effect, where you were playing a Han Solo type of character in a Star Control-inspired game in the Mass Effect universe, he explained of the game, which was intended to run in parallel with the trilogy.

Mass Effect Once Had a Spinoff Inspired by Star Wars Han Solo

Mass Effect development director Dorian Kieken said that such a game was once in the works at BioWare. “We explored a game concept back in 2008, a bit after the shipping of [ Mass Effect,] where you were playing a Han Solo type of character in a Star Control-inspired game in the Mass Effect universe,” said Kieken. “The game was intended to expand the Mass Effect universe and be done in parallel [with] the trilogy.” Although Han Solo is remembered as a hero in the  Star Wars universe, it is easy to forget that the smuggler has a checkered past. Before his adventures with Luke Skywalker and company, he was somewhere in between a good and bad guy. He wasn’t necessarily a bad person, but would do bad things if it meant he can get by. Apparently exploring this kind of character was something that BioWare’s developers were interested in.
