Dame Minita Gordon
Galen University has announced its Dame Minita Gordon Scholarship to commence in September 2021. In an official press release, Galen University informs that the full academic scholarship is created in honor of the late Dame Minita Gordon, Belize’s first Governor-General.
Throughout her career, Dame Minita Gordon distinguished herself as a primary school teacher, teacher educator, and Education Officer. She was also Belize’s first fully qualified psychologist, having earned her doctorate in Applied Psychology from the University of Toronto.
The Dame Minita Gordon Scholarship will be awarded every two years to a young Belizean woman of outstanding scholastic achievement and financial merit who is transferring from a junior college into Galen’s Secondary Education program.
