TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Rosendo âRossâ Prieto, a former Surfside building inspector, has been placed on a âleave of absenceâ from his current post as a building inspector in nearby Doral, Florida, according to a statement from the city of Doral.
The city said that their contracting partner, CAP Government, Inc., told officials on Monday that they have âassigned another employee to assists the City of Doral Building Department on a temporary basis.

The official who allegedly told the condo association of Champlain Towers South, the Miami-area condo building that collapsed last week, that the building was “in very good shape” has been put on leave, his current employer says.
Until recently, Ross Prieto was working for the contractor CAP Government in Doral, Florida. But according to the city, CAP Government now says Mr Prieto has been temporarily removed.
“On June 28, 2021, C.A.P. Government, Inc. notified the City of Doral that Mr. Prieto was on a leave of absence and assigned another employee to assist the City of Doral Building Department on a temporary basis,” Doral spokesperson Maggie Santos said in a statement.

Miami-Dade Assistant Fire Chief Raide Jadallah said on Wednesday that in addition to four more bodies, crews also found other human remains.

Jadallah told family members at a morning briefing that rescuers found the bodies Tuesday night. He said relatives have not yet been identified.
It comes following reports that an ex-official who in 2018 signed off on the safety of the doomed condo said there was nothing to check.
