Join Eleanor Soo-ah Hyun, Associate Curator of Korean Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as she considers how the art-making modes of MiKyoung Lee engage in historical dialogue. This lecture is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Threading Memories / MiKyoung Lee at Art@Bainbridge. Using common, mass-produced products such as pipe cleaners, zip ties, and twist ties, the artist MiKyoung Lee creates dynamic large-scale sculptures and intimate wall-mounted works. Lee’s art explores memories from her childhood and from later chapters of her life, evocatively commenting on our collective human mode of processing, cataloging, and revisiting the past.
