with flying colors. bill: i don t mean to interrupt you but i have a minute left. we ll move to your home state of ohio. what is the status of the buckeye state today? where does that race stand? well, momentum is in our direction, bill. i have never seen such energy and enthusiasm on the ground. i know you will be in ohio next week. you will see it there. crowds are big. we made more phone calls than all of 2008 already with your volunteers. we made 25 times more door knocks. our volunteers working hard. polls showed us five points down a couple weeks ago. now it is a dead-heat. it is dead heat in the national polls. it is also a dead-heat frankly in our own tracking that we re doing. so i would like to be in our position right now rather than in president obama s position because the trend is in our direction. frankly in ohio the issue is jobs and economy and again, governor romney is laying out an agenda and a strategy to deal with it. president obama is saying four more years of
early voting periods. we re going to get the phone calls, door knocks, we re going to get out and vote. north carolina is going to go for the president. let me be able to positive and give you a chance. the reverend jackson has been through every hell with the civil rights fact. he s got some trace of on the part optimism. is there optimism in this part of the country? no question. i wouldn t be mayor without the help of people like jesse jackson. but in this point in the new south, we are working to build a new economy. we re trying to diversify our economy in growing our economy. this is the first convention that will have a stated diversity goal so that we re expanding not only the vote, but also the the ability of people to participate in the economy. the workers, that s because of the civil rights movement in

it depends on the ground game. harris: talk to me a little bit about intensity. i don t know if dollars makes sense, i guess that s not free, you have to spend money to get door knocks. what is driving virginia voters and republican voters to the polls, where is the intensity that? across the country we are seeing huge intensity among our base for tax reform and tax cuts, things are going to get our economy going, jobs, wages, we ve seen wages stagnate under the obama economy. we haven t seen growth in our country. that s something republicans across the border are looking at. that s why gillespie s message is resonating in virginia. he is talking about jobs and growing the commonwealth of virginia s economy. that is something republicans across the board support.
