January 25 marked the 10th anniversary of the beginning of the Arab Spring revolution in Egypt. On February 7, 2011, three days before Egypt s President Mubarak stepped down, MEMRI President Yigal Carmon wrote a sober analysis, titled Chronicle of a Doomed Uprising: The Egyptian Revolution as a Microcosm of the Arab Masses Quest for a Share in Power and Resources. While many in the West were jubilant over the events, he argued that the revolution was doomed to failure, and predicted that the Egyptian military would continue to rule Egypt.
